Have You Read It?
I’m currently listening to a book on Audible. The book’s title, “Remarkably Bright Creatures,” doesn’t necessarily grab one’s attention. But the novel, by Shelby Van Pelt, is entertaining because of its characters and their intertwining storylines.
A book critic I am not. But I know what I like. And we are all capable of describing why we like books or films or music.
When I first heard about this book, it was advertised as a story about an octopus. I wondered how on earth that could be interesting. But more and more people recommended it, so I picked it up. And now I’m recommending it to you.
Many of you may be chuckling at me. “Michele, the book was published in 2022. What took you so long?!” I have a history of being late to many parties. That doesn’t mean I can’t recommend this contemporary work. After all, I still urge people to read Charles Dickens and Jane Austin, both of whom are long dead. (“A Tale of Two Cities” remains one of my all-time favorites, as does “Pride and Prejudice.”)
There are remarkably bright creatures all around us.
Very few of them were on display at Trump’s speech to the joint session of Congress last week. My Wildcard Wednesday last week focused on the highs and lows of that event.
My other two episodes this week featured two very bright creatures. Hope you’ll subscribe to the podcast so you never miss an episode.
ICYMI Last Week:
(1) Open The Books. Just DOGE it.
Monitoring government spending should be a given. It should be transparent and easy to access. Why would anyone fight against that notion… unless they don’t want you to know how your money is being spent? John Hart is the CEO of OpenTheBooks.com, an amazing resource for tracking government spending. Hart joins Michele to talk DOGE, the scalpel versus the chainsaw, and why a bloated government leads to shrinking liberties.

(2) Democrats Dour Display was Dumb: WILDCARD WEDNESDAY
As President Trump took a victory lap in front of a joint session of Congress, Democrats as a whole decided to play the resistance card on every level. Still, there were some hilarious, touching, and mic drop moments. We’ve got them for you in this episode of Wildcard Wednesday.

(3) Actor Jay Johnston on J6
You’ve seen him in “Anchorman” and heard his voice in “Bob’s Burgers.” You’ve probably seen work he has written, produced and/or directed. But he hasn’t worked since January 6, 2021. Being at the Capitol cost him “bigly.” All but banished in Hollywood, Jay Johnston could use a break.
