As I remember it, the Don Lemon news broke first. He was out at CNN, and he was shocked.
The Tucker Carlson story broke a bit later, and millions were shocked.
Lemon’s post-firing tweet demonstrates his lack of self awareness. Here it is:
Recent stories about Lemon’s treatment of women, his “past her prime” debacle, and the fact that he makes co-workers cry should have been a warning to Lemon that things were on the decline for him at CNN.
Meanwhile, Carlson didn’t tweet about his departure from Fox. In fact, he hasn’t tweeted in days. He’s handling his situation a bit differently.
Carlson’s fans, on the other hand, have reacted to his firing as though he died. Countless devotees regaled the internet with anecdotes about how kind, humble, caring, attentive, and giving Tucker is. All of these sounded like eulogies.
And many of these same people are suggesting Tucker’s departure marks the death of Fox News.
Maybe it is. But does anyone remember when Bill O’Reilly was fired?
People have also suggested that Tucker has been “silenced.” Hardly.
I would remind those people that there is streaming, social media, Rumble, etc., etc., etc.
Being fired does not mean someone has been silenced.
We have not heard the last of Tucker Carlson. I’m certain of that.
On the other hand, we may never hear from Don Lemon again.
My guess is that the market will determine whose voices people want to hear.
